Pumpkin Patch 2009

This past weekend we headed to the pumpkin patch while Grandma Rosie, Grandpa Alex, Avery and Nikki were in town. It was a little muddy and that prevented us from making our way through the corn maze, but other than that we still had a great time.

We arrived just in time to see the tractor head out to the pumpkin patch, so we spent some time playing corn hole, going down the slide and getting some pictures taken. Carac and Avery had a blast and spent a lot of time laughing. Then we were surprised with a visit from Connor, Brady and their parents. Carac was so excited to introduce his friends to his cousin Avery.

We were able to get seats together on the tractor ride out to the pumpkin patch. The tractor wasn't moving too fast so the kids distracted themselves with a number of activities. They were watching the mud on the large tractor tires and listening to the sounds it made. They were pulling pieces of straw so they could compare who had the longest piece. And they also spent time talking about the fun they had at the Fall Festival earlier in the week.
When we arrived out at the pumpkin patch the kids patiently waited for everyone else to get off in front of us. Then we had to walk around to find some of the best pumpkins for carving. This will be our first year actually carving the pumpkin, so we wanted it to be perfect. Nikki was a big help in walking around and spotting acceptable pumpkins with Avery and Carac and we relied on Ben to get them back to the tractor.
We came home with 3 pumpkins and have yet to carve them, but I will definitely post pictures once we have the opportunity!
