Day 1 and Day 2 of vacation

So we left Evansville a little later than planned on Sunday. We were on the road by 8:40 am. Carac became the navigator and enjoyed looking at the our route on the atlas. His favorites were the cities with stars (state capitals) because he knew it meant there were big buildings. Needless to say Nashville and Atlanta were his favorites. Overall the drive was pretty uneventful and Carac sincerely was an angel. Thank goodness for the travel coloring I had bought at Wal-Mart and the DVD player. We didn't resort to the DVD player until after Atlanta. Mostly because Carac napped from Nashville up to the GA line, which meant he didn't need to be entertained. We were so impressed by his behavior and lack of "Are we there yets," that upon arrival to Savannah we drove over to Tybee Island. This was Carac's reward and it allow him to see the beach he was eagerly anticipating. At this point mommy was a little irritated and would have rather not gone, however once it was all said and done I was glad we went. We checked in at about 9:30 pm and fell asleep about 10:35 pm. Monday morning we had breakfast at the hotel and I sent just a few (2) work emails. To make up for it I left my Blackberry at the hotel and didn't worry about it at all. Our first stop was the beach for the ocean and a sand castle. Carac's first priority had been the sand castle until he experienced his first wave. He had so much fun running away from them and then walking back out to wait for the next one. It was one of the greatest things I think I've seen my son experience, and the fun was just radiating off of his face. My 4 year old reminded me, thanks to his summer swim lessons, and we were sure to use plenty of sunscreen. Carac's cheeks had just a touch of pink, and made him even cuter (if that's possible.) After the ocean we went to lunch at The Crab Shack, and it is one heck of a place. It's off the beaten path, although highly advertised to compensate. We sat outside underneath on of the biggest trees I've seen in a while. The food was great, and if Ben and I were any more experienced with seafood, we may have experimented a little more than we did. The coolest part was that there were about 78 alligators in captivity that you could use long fishing rods to feed them "treats." They were much smaller than alligators in the wild, however Carac was still impressed and jumped a time or two in reaction to the alligators movements. Then it was on to the Tybee Island Lighthouse. We climbed up 178 stairs and enjoyed the view for quite some time. We were able to find the ocean, the beach, Daddy's car, and even a little cat on the ground from the top of the light house. Carac again was an angel it was well worth it. We picked up a few souvenirs and presents for the grandparents. After that we headed back to Savannah. Carac fell asleep so Ben and I used the time to drive around down by the river which is the Historic part of town. I was so anxious to go walking Tuesday. We couldn't Monday because a thunderstorm came and stuck around, so we headed back to the hotel. All I can say is this city, as well as the beach is beautiful and I'm so glad that we added a few days to our vacation! Here are a few pictures to highlight our trip: He doesn't look like he's having fun at all?! Mom and Carac on the beach! Daddy and Carac enjoyed the view from the top. Can anyone spot the storm?
