This week was much better. In fact, you'll notice that I do not make an appearance in any of the pictures! Carac wasn't shy and was ready to go as soon as we got to the field. He of course made a bee-line for the "best friends" as the coach now calls them.
They dribbled around and then the coach has this game where she says a body part and they have to put that part on the ball. Her favorites are ear, head, knee, stomach and nose. Carac refused to participate because there was grass on his ball. So unfortunately I don't have a picture of him with his ear on the ball. We're hoping next week he decides to join in.
After they dribbled around for a little bit they decided to work on being goalie and trying to shoot the ball. Well considering there is one coach and ump-teen kids a couple parents, me included, decided to help by splitting the group in two so they got more turns to try goalie and shooting. It worked well until Carac wanted a turn at goalie and another kid was chosen. He yelled at me and told me that I was mad at him and he wanted a turn. Plus, on of the kids called me "Carac's mom" and he yelled "Why don't you call her Andrea." It was cute, just not in his delivery. So he spent the last 10 - 15 minutes with Daddy on the sideline a little upset.
After Carac apologized to me we gave him a chance to play goalie and I tried to get the ball past him. He still is a little unsure, but he seems to be getting more confidence. I think it helps that at home we have been talking about soccer. We even found some soccer pajamas and those replaced his football pair as his new favorite pair. On Friday he was so excited about soccer the next morning that we practiced writing the word. I had to help a little bit with the "e" and "r" but he really tried. Again, I can't believe how fast he's growing up!
