For those of you that don't know, December is an extremely crazy month for me at work It involves late nights, early mornings and a lot of time coordinating and recoordinating things with customers to ensure that all of their customers are going to get their Christmas gifts on time! Ben and I decided to further complicate things by deciding to look for a new house.
We had made an offer on one house, and that didn't end up working out, so we continued our search. The more we looked the longer our list of things became that we wanted in our "new" house.
We stumbled upon a subdivision where a 2 year old house was for sale. We really liked the house, but something was holding us back. I went back and drove through the subdivision and discovered there was a similar house currently under construction by the same builder. I decided to take a chance and called to determine whether or not the house was already sold.
After talking to the builder and realizing that the house was not sold, he went ahead and did a comparison of the 1st house we looked at and this new one. Based on his comparison and all the additional things this house had vs. the other (including an additional bedroom) we went back and walked through the house under construction.
We took some time to think it over and pray about it. We met with the builder, ironed out a few details, and we are now under contract to purchase the house when it is complete in February.
So now, in the middle of busy season at work and the Holidays, we are in the process of moving most of our stuff to a storage unit so we can paint and recarpet our house in an attempt to get it listed in January. Ben has been wonderful over his break packing things up and running as much as he can via car to prevent a U-Haul expense. It's just quite overwhelming to go through the past 5 years of stuff we have accumulated.
Please send happy thoughts our way as we go through the process. I'm trying to control my emotions as much as I can. I think things will be better once our house is listed and that's off the to do list. The great news is we'll have plenty of room for visitors both near and far. So please, if you are considering traveling this summer, please stop by to see us in Evansville! I believe we should have most of the boxes unpacked by then!
Oh my gosh, we are out of touch! I knew you were considering it, but wasn't sure it was a final decision.
ReplyDeleteGuess I should keep up with your blog and I would have known this before we talked today! It's a very cute house!! Can't wait to see it in person!!
